      I saw that too.  I sat and stared at the television screen with my
mouth open and a shocked look on my face.  My husband asked me what was
wrong and I told him to watch the clip.  I ran it back and he agreed,  it
sure looked like the horse died.  Too real looking for me.  Later I also
heard that the horse died during the filming.  Actually, the credits mention
"in memory of"  with a name that I cant remember.  It wasnt a person.  The
fall was incredible.  A bit overdone for my tastes.  A simple movie fall on
the flat in some sand would have been just fine.
