3 More days
I'm packing, loading, cleaning, getting ready for the big ride. Endurance
has just made me the epitome of organizing and getting ready early to "load
em up and head em out."
I move things from the tack room to the horse trailer, from the horse trailer
to the tack room, from the bedroom to the diesel, from the diesel to the tack
room and the bedroom. List, where's my list? Why is that food from my last
ride still in my truck? Damn I didn't know I still had some beer there! How
come camping with your horses takes so much stuff? How come I don't seem to
use half of it when I get to the ride?
Who took my Toby Keith CD? Can't leave home without that CD!
So many questions, so little time. But I'm pumped up and it's only a two
hour trailer ride; can you imagine that? And I don't have to cross that
state line and visit any Agriculture Stations. Yahoo........
When I get there I'm gonna unload my horse named Skeletor and ten bucks says,
before I even have my tent up, I get six people stopping by telling me, "Sure
is a skinny horse." "Have you had his teeth checked?" "Someone called the
Humane Society on me when I went to a ride with a horse looking like that!"
"Pump a couple beers into him, that'll fix him up"
But you know something, nothings gonna bother me, I even bought a bear horn
to scare the critters off if they try and sneak into my tent and if I need
extra protection I'm just gonna yell "Angie get your gun" and everything
should turn out fine. Not gonna sleep in my poopy, smelly horse trailer, I
don't care if it's buffalo proof or not. Weather forcast predicts few
buffalo this time of year. Got a heater, air mattress, portapottie (not
sure where I'm putting that yet), chairs, food, beer, ice, water, portable
corral, raincoats, beer, ice....... Who said fun isn't work or work isn't fun?
And horse feed and supplements, can't forget that stuff. Vit E/selenium
powder, weight builder powder, daily dewormer pellets, CARBO CHARGE (yea TI,
I'm gonna do it), on and on and on it goes. Don't forget that special hay
and where's that can to put that horse feed in?
I took less stuff with me when I went to Korea for a year. Whew, it's all
worth it, right?
cya,
Howard
