Statutes vary from state to state, but in Oregon, unvaccinated dogs and cats
are euthanized if they bite someone and the bite is considered to be
unprovoked. Vaccinated dogs and cats must undergo 10 days of quarantine if
they bite, even when the bite IS provoked. (Unprovoked basically means that
the animal attacked a human with no cause; if the person is invading the
animal's territory or is handling the animal, the bite is generally
considered to be provoked.)
