Re: Got a problem here!
Hi Lif,
I carefully read your e-mail. We call these horses "project horses". I
have come across many. Sometimes it is the feed, sometimes being cooped up,
sometimes the horse IS nuts. I passed up a beautiful mare last fall, whom I
felt was in the last category. Too bad. You couldn't have GIVEN me this
mare.
I would find out two things:
1. what he is feeding him
2. where he is kept
Sweet feed can make them crazy sometimes. As can a stall or corral.
Several of my horses would be nuts if they were kept corralled (they live on
100 acres).
I had a horse when I was a kid who went "nuts". We sold her back to the
ranch we bought another horse from for about $300. They turned her out with
the cows for a year, and she was absolutely fine after that!
It sounds like the guy is trying and not abusing the horse. I understand
how he feels about not selling her to someone privately; I would feel the
same way. That is why we are EXTREMELY careful and picky about any horse we
"take on".
Hope this helps.
