[Fwd: Re: RC: RC: BITS: to Tracy]
-Learned a lot from Barb's post but am wondering if Tracy really meant
pulled out his molars or was that just a figure of speech? Can't quite
believe pulling out teeth would help reform a puller.
I have a horse off the track that could be still pulling at mile 98.
When I got him I knew I would never last so I tried a more severe bit
(as in Kimberwick) and knew within 5 seconds that wasn't a good idea.
Ended up using a vosal from Sport Tack and every person who had known
him was amazed. (I had his teeth done first thing so knew it wasn't
pain, just a learned response from the track and then being constantly
pulled at). The vosal made a believer out of a lot of people. By the
way, it, like everything, sure doesn't work for every horse, but for one
who bulls into the bit, it worked wonders. (I did cover both the nose
piece and jaw pieces with sheepskin - it's really tough).
Good Luck Tracy
