American River ride
I was one of those "lucky" enough to be at the American River Ride. And
it WAS very discouraging. Some of my friends were awoken at midnight by
the Park Rangers and given breath tests for alcohol and told that they
had to leave. They were also told that they would have to call a taxi to
go. They had been drinking and the breath tests were below the limit,
but close enough that the Rangers did not want them to drive. These two
eventually found some good samaritans nearby with "self contained"
accommodations for them to stay in until the Rangers left. Others
though did get $89 tickets when they wouldn't leave.
We were lucky, though we slept in the back of the truck, I had parked it
in the middle of the corrals and no one ventured in to check on us!
It is really funny to me, that they seem concerned with the sanitation
problem, but that they let us have our horses and dogs pooping and
peeing all over the place. Go figure.
