vetting for RO & OT pulls

hi all ~

::disclaimer/on::

i confess that i'm not all the way caught up in ridecamp as i've not got net
access over the weekend. so if someone has already covered this point & i
just haven't gotten to it yet, please forgive my duplication of efforts.
i'm going to post this letter cuz i'm sort of impatient when there's
something i want to say & am not sure when i'll get caught up reading
everything.  <g>

::disclaimer/off::

reading through the thread about whether or not a vet check should be
required when a rider opts to pull or when coming in overtime...

one thing that baffles me about this sport is this -- why do some endurance
riders feel compelled to turn down a free veterinary examination for their
horse?

if i have to call a vet to come out to my barn to look at my horse -- it
costs me serious bucks!!!! i figure that part of the deal of my paying a
ride entry fee is the on-site presence of experienced endurance vets. now,
not all the vets at a given ride may be top-notch, but there's nearly always
at least one that i totally trust to examine my horse.

if i do a RO pull or come in OT and a there's a vet on hand that i trust who
will examine my horse for no charge -- why would i turn that down?

it seems like my horse can only benefit from that, and it costs me nothing.

regards all,

trishka
