I've never heard of any federal or state campground with a rule that
doesn't allow the use of outdoor camping.  Seems to me that it then
excludes backpackers from camping there and all sorts of people who don't
want to own a land barge (motor home).  At some point it becomes
meaningless to go camping - one of the best experiences of camping is
sleeping outside. 

I would be VERY curious to find out how that regulation came about and
whether the people of CA voted on it or it was one of those sneaky things
that seems to happen so often in states like CA where just about
everything in your life is regulated nowadays.  Lif
