Comment on info about large cats
Hi ya'll. I am usually pretty quiet, just lurking mostly.....but I have a
thought for you.
I just have to say in regard to the information about mountain lions/cats. I
live in the state of Florida, as a matter of a fact the Lightning Capital of
the world.....and so I know nothing about mountain lions.......BUT I do know
that if I go riding or get caught in a thunderstorm, I very well COULD get
struck by lightning-----meaning the comment about having a greater chance of
getting struck by lightning is pretty significant to me......so to you people
who live and ride in areas where there are mountain lions I just have one
question to the Park Ranger who said, " when faced with a lion that won't
run.....get back on your horse." Now I have a BOMB PROOF APP who is
terrified of only one thing in this world......pigs. He has no reason to
fear them, but a horse has every reason to fear a lion due to instinct. So
I know what his reaction to the pig will be and is something I still work
with......he goes over to my neighbor's house to visit Shirley(their pet
pig).....it really hasn't helped much, but at least we haven't given
up......anyhow, my question is this.....When face with a mountain lion "that
won't run from you", how many of you "think" you could get back on your
horse?????
Just what is the reaction of the horse when you come up on something like
that?? It certainly isn't something you can prepare for and as for my other
horses, than my App, meaning my Arabians, I dare say coming up on a lion
would be my small problem compared to getting my horse calmed down......just
a thought that makes me very glad I live here, and this summer when the temps
are 100+ and we have 100% humidity, and the mosquitoes and horse flies are
unbearable, I will still have something to be thankful for......:))
