NOTHING will back down a queen with a litter.  Don't
challenge a cat.  Go a different route.

I came upon a cat lying in the trail in the shade and
my mare smelled it before it knew we were there.  She
broke out in a full body sweat and wouldn''t budge
another inch.  I turned her around and she high tailed
it back the way we came and wouldn't calm down for
about two miles.
