Re: RC: Descendants of GG Jabask
Great share, Tracey,
I well remember my own GG Jabask decendent, JB Caprock; the butter-soft feel
of his mouth in dressage and the gentle way he had with children. Besides
that, you're one of the lucky ones who got a son that rides! Now I can envy
you both the horse and the boy... ;->

Several posts ago, someone asked for stories about GG Jabask descendants. I
can
let you know about of one of his "grandsons." My 12 year-old son, Michael,
owns
and rides BW Alazon, a wonderful 8-year-old, chestnut Arabian. His sire is
EJ
Jabask, a stallion standing at Bridlewood Arabians in Hillsdale, NY, south
of
Albany. EJ Jabask's sire was GG Jabask. Michael has been riding Alazon for
three years, and has developed a secure seat as Alazon grew out of his
spookiness at small things in the arena and on the trail that prompted him
to
spin and bolt and do "airs above the ground." No injuries and maybe seven or
eight falls. Together they have won several championships at New England
Arabian
shows. Currently, Michael is riding dressage and has shown first-level.
During
last season, Michael was high-point young rider in the New England Dressage
Association. This year, they will be moving up to second-level. They are
always
seen as a wonderful team. Michael is very proud of his horse, and stays
fiercely
loyal as people comment on how well big warmbloods do in dressage. The
implication is that anyone with Michael's natural talents should be moving
to a
warmblood.
I am a trail rider on my own quarter-horse. Michael and I enjoy going on
trail
rides together in New England. I have noticed that Alazon has really matured
in
the last year. I think a combination of Alazon's own ageing and Michael's
dressage has made him a fit and cooperative horse. The only remaining issue
is
dogs that sneak up behind them and let out a sudden lunge. Next thing we see
is
Alazon galloping to the front, with Michael, although a little worried,
riding
it out in a wonderful, deep and secure seat.
