Re: Karahty - facts and misconceptions PLEASE READ!!
I just read Wendy Lumberts message to RC. I had deleted all of the posts
without reading much of them, re Dolly and her stallions. I have been at a
ride at sometime or another where Dolly had one of her stallions. Curiously
enough I was at the one where the stallion bred the mare in camp.
Yup, --it happens. I found Dolly to be a very nice person. She had one of
the first fully self contained goosenecks I had ever seen and opened it up
to my friend and I to gawk all we wanted. I might add that it was raining
pretty good at the time and she didnt even care that we were dripping on her
floors. I am a bit disheartened about the bashing that has been going on
too. Those of you who call her stallions "unmannered " because they squeal
, however, IMHO may have a point. I have handled stallions and jacks most
of my life. I was taught as were the gentleman equines , that a male equine
should not speak to another, unless invited to do so. A squealing stallion
or braying donkey is like a barking dog. Annoying to humans and can be
construed by another animal as a threat. I consider a horse that squeals
(mares included) to be rude. My horses , donkeys and mules are expected to
be ladies and gentlemen at all times.
Dolly sees the squealing as being a natural thing for a stallion to do. If
her talking horses make you uncomfortable, I'm sure if you said something to
her she would make things right. I know I sure would. The few times that I
have been around her and any of her stallions, aside from the occasional
noise, they were pretty well behaved. They just went down the trail doing
their jobs like everyone else. Just my 2 cents worth. gesa n clovis n sky

Subject: RC: Karahty - facts and misconceptions PLEASE READ!!

ride where "Karahty got away and raped a mare."
>Amazing memory. It was Amadeus, who was trailered to the ride with a mare,
Audacity, who was in heat, and when tied next to her broke loose and bred
her. The owner was not upset and has bred more than once to Karahty since
then. It was an accident,
