Karahty

Hi all,
Haven't been a member for about a year because I haven't been able to ride thanks to a bad back. Just happened to be checking today, and saw some references to Karahty, my favorite endurance stallion!
I don't know WHERE some of you are getting your information, but I have known Dolly and Karahty for over l5 years now and hopefully can answer SOME of the misconceptions I just saw in a couple of letters.
OF COURSE he is fully registered! I have bred several of my good endurance mares to him, and at the price it takes to raise a foal to a rideable age, you don't think he'd be such a popular stallion if he wasn't registered, do you? The Arabian Registry certainly thinks he is or MY foals would not have been registered!
I don't recall any ad saying he was FILL Egyptian! I have always seen 3/4 Egyptian although he looks full.
His dispositon is wonderful--never mind he's a stallion! I have been at rides where mares and geldings were the problem while Karahty stood quietly, waiting to start! I am NOT a young rider any more, and I would not breed to anything except a good dispositoned stallion. As I said, I have raised beautiful foals sired by him and managed them --mainly by myself!
As to his get--most are owned by careful owners, and there are only a few of his babies that are now getting old enough to race. I for one am happy to see that they are not having their" legs run off as youngsters" as has been the case with other endurance lines owned by people who felt that just because a mare or sire did well, their babies should "naturally" be "runners" without the conditoning needed to make a top endurance horse.Speaking of his get, have you checked out his sons ridden by Dolly DeCair? I would say their record certainly "enhanaces" their sire and they are some of the oldest of his babies. Also, I am sure you could check on others through the AERC files since I personly know of several who have done VERY well already! (Some of the most famous mares in endurance have been bred to him and the results of these breedings will soon enter our races.)
This is a stallion who is not only beautiful, but a proud producer and performer. PLEASE check out records or speak with people who know the horse in question before making unresearched statements on Ridecamp. It can hurt a horse's reputation that doesn't deserve it and IS in fact, one of the greatest living endurance sires that our sport has produced! His record, in case it has been missed in our AERC magazine is "30 WINS. 20 BEST CONDITIONS,Legion of Supreme Merit in E.H.R.A. and l988 West Region BC Champion."
( And this was all done in the West Region, noted for having the most horses entered to race against of any of the AERC regions).
