re: OF panels

   At one time I owned several models of OF saddles, and also found the one 
with the shortest panels caused the least loin-rubbing.  And the wool navaho 
pad under the booties worked best for me too.
   I'd like to add that a bit of "Cowboy Magic" or a LITTLE bit of "Show 
Sheen" applied to the spots where the saddle tends to rub helps prevent the 
hair breakage (probably makes the horse's back too slick to rub in those 
spots).
