SO it would seem that a stud is first a horse...then a
place. :) >>
Webster is not quite so forgiving of colloquial useage. He lists the
following:
1) a: A group of animals and esp. horses kept for breeding; b: a place (as
a farm) where a stud is kept. 2) STUDHORSE: <broadly>: a male animal kept
for breeding.
