What I shoot for is to find the center of the coffin joint which is
usually somewhere about a 1/4 back from the point of the frog.Once I find it
I try to get half the foot in front and half in back making this joint the
true center of the foot.Doug Butler has an excellent book called Shoeing In
Your Right Mind which has wonderful suggestions in balancing a foot. My two
