Re: borium shoes

We use shoes with borium dots (four dots on each foot). With
the previous farrier, Meshack would lose shoes if we rode very
aggressively (cantered) on hard roads.

We decided that he would get too much grip with the borium and
the slightest twist would pull the shoe.

With the new farrier, we are using clips, and have not ever lost
a shoe. However I am much more careful and do NOT ride
aggressively on hard roads. The borium comes off on 4/22.

We are having a near record April snowfall here in Northern VT,
as well as plenty of mud so fortunately?? we have not seen much
hard surface.

Does anyone else use borium shoes in the winter? If you do, have you had any problems when riding on hard-packed dirt roads when your horse still had borium shoes on? TIA!
