April on the Mountain
Anyone in the Bay Area of California (Walnut Creek) who wants to come to a
pleasure ride and dinner Saturday, April 15 - call for information. We meet
at 9 a.m. at the Castle Rock Road staging area, end of Castle Rock. Ride
out at 10 and return for dinner at 3. See attachment.

HORSE BACK RIDERS AND HIKERS
CELEBRATE APRIL ON THE MOUNTAIN
The 20th Annual horse back ride and hike sponsored by Heritage Trails will be held Saturday, April 15 as part of the official "April on the Mountain" activities held on Mt. Diablo State Park. Every weekend in April offers a variety of hikes, bird watching expeditions and horseback rides to encourage housebound, winter weary folks to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather and our Island Mountain, Mt. Diablo State Park.
The Horseback ride will be divided into three groups ranging from easy, intermediate and advanced and led by Geoffrey Carter of Oakland, Nancy DuPont and Jennifer Jelich of Walnut Creek.
Riders will arrive at 9:00 a.m. at Castle Rock Park Parking area on Castle Rock Road and be ready to ride at 10 a.m.
Hikers will meet at the Castle Rock Parking area at 11:00 a.m.
What to bring: A light lunch, plenty of water and a camera!
There will be a barbecue following the ride and hike at 3 p.m.
Cost for Barbecue and event $20. Additional guests for barbecue are encouraged.

The hike will be led by Jeannie Harmon, member of American Hiking Society and Heritage Trails. Jeannie, a resident of Walnut Creek hiked across the United States with "HikaNation" in 1980-81. For information about hiking call Jeannie at (925) 934-4548
Heritage Trails, is a non profit organization based in Walnut Creek whose mission is to preserve and protect trails for horses and hikers locally and nationally. All proceeds above the cost of the meal will be used to benefit local trails.
