Re: RC: my last words
Sonya - are you an AERC member? If yes re-read your April
EN.
AERC BOD did deny the protest of the rider who protested
losing
placing and being given only completion. Jeff's concern and
as a RM I understand it is a separate motion? (not sure if
its called that yet having been referred to a committtee)
that stated roughly (This RM and all RM's should be educated
on
safety.) I've already expressed to the BOD my opinion
on this and also the RM forum column in the same issue.
-basically I feel that the specific wording implies that
if you didn't have an accident your ride was safe, but if
there was an accident you the RM screwed up, regardless
of whether the actual finish control, etc. were exactly
the same.

I will say this, the end of the race should be clear and kept clear for those coming in so that the gentleman on the sidelines did not get hurt. Hind sight is 20-20. I do feel that the AERC should have stood behind the decision of the ride manager. The judgement of the riders at the end seems poor and negligent. It obvious that we have differing opinions and if you can't accept that I am right...then the wedding is off!!!
