Mt. Charleston Challenge 50/75 & 50 May 21 & 22, 2000
BASE CAMP:
Blue Tree primitive campground. Elevation 7000 feet. This is a Pinon Pine
area, if you plan to come late, please wake up RM for parking instructions.
DIRECTIONS:
Going thru the Las Vegas area, take the Reno, 95 North and continue out of
town. Go past the Mt. Charleston, Kyle Canyon turn off, and continue 13 miles
to the Lee Canyon turn off. Go 12 miles up to mile marker 5, Blue Tree camp
ground. Turn Right, there will be signs for parking areas.
If you coming from northern Nev, you will turning right off 95 just a little
ways past Indian Springs, Nv.
There are NO SERVICES on the mountain. Please fuel up, groceries, ice, etc
before coming up. There will be horse water in camp.
TRAIL:
This is a moderate to difficult trail. 95% single track scenic mountain
trails. Remote areas and natural springs and meadows.
All Vet Checks are in Base Camp. The 75 mile trail consists of 5 loops. The
50 mile trail consists of 3 loops.
Jim & Barbara Koepke will be offering their "Dutch Oven" cooking on Friday.
Friday's dinner is not including in the entry fee. Saturday's dinner is
included with entry fee.
Sunday is a NO FRILLS, no dinner and no awards.
