The Posse Ride
Becky Bucher rjbucher@hotmail.com
When the riders came into camp on their last vet check before their final loop it was clear to the timers that they were way ahead of the pack in the 50 mile ride.
It was suggested to them at that time that if they wanted to race for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd that they should do it somewhere out on the trail before coming into the finish line. In other words since they were all riding together, figure it out before finishing to avoid a race in an area that was known to be a busy spot. These girls are all very competitive. There is nothing wrong with that. But positioning could have been handled in a more sportsman like manner rather than an out of control race to the finish.
The Posse ride is a wonderful ride. Jeff and Darlene go out of there way for many month out of the year to make this the best ride they can. Much effort is put into trail work, awards, food, rider comfort, and rider safety. Save the Posse ride, it's a Blast.
