Horse heights
I definately agree that people often look at a horse and misjudge the
height. We measure all our horses regularly (its a bit of info I like to
keep record off as we have a few babies). We have four horses thats sizes
are misjudged at first glance by visitors (let me just mention that these
are the snobby type who ONLY go for big horses).
My app stallion is 15.1hh but is often thought to be 16hh (i just gigle to
myself!!) we also have a 14.2hh arabian mare that carries herself so big
that even we were surprised at her size, she is often thought to be 15hh and
I have even got into arguments with people about her size. Our thb mare is
16.1hh and people say "No way she must be close to 17hh" (giggle, giggle)
and lastly I pride myself on having a good eye for size but even I was
surprised by the app mare I ride, when we bought her I would have taken her
to be between 15.1 and 15.3hh but when we measured her she was 16hh!!
I love my small horses and I couldn't figure out why it was so hard to get
on her (thought that oldage was setting in early :-)) but after measuring
her I new why. Going from a 14.3hh to a 16hh is not easy!
