RE: Looking for a book on the foot
Diane,
Try Dr. Hiltrud Strasser's site: http://www.alltel.net/~star/page4.html for
the book. She also is doing seminars in the USA this year.
As quoted in her brochures:
Schedule of Events
Hiltrud Strasser - Year 2000 Tour
San Jose, California April 29,30, May 1
Austin, Texas May 6,7, 8
Chattanooga, Tennessee May 13, 14, 15
Columbus, Ohio May 20, 21, 22
 Hoof Care Seminars
with Hiltrud Strasser and Sabine Kells
(Certified Hoofcare Specialists)
Day 1: Theory
The first day of this three day seminar is spent on the basic environmental
needs for horse health, the anatomy, physics, and functions of the hoof, the
importance of these functions to the health of the horse, and the effects of
horseshoes. (Approx. 8 hours)
Day 2: Introduction to Basic Trimming
The first half of the second day covers the basics of anatomically and
physiologically correct trimming (different from the trimming taught in
conventional farrier courses), and what occurs during the transition and/or
rehabilitation period of the lame or shod horse to the sound,
high-performance barefooted horse. The second half of the day is spent with
hands-on practice, learning the basic techniques for natural trimming of
barefooted horses, and dissecting hoof biospecimens for study. (Approx. 8
hours)
Day 3: Basic Trimming Practicum
The third day provides further hands-on trimming instruction on hoof
biospecimens. Horse owners who have made the necessary prior arrangements
may trim their own horses in the afternoon, with supervision. (Approx. 8
hours)
Hope this is what you are trying to find. --Kathleen in Tucson
