RE: Milk powder
Don't know a thing about milk powder but I'm a true believer in beer for the
finicky eater. A lot of race horses, especially fillies won't consume enough
grain to keep their weight/energy levels up. Or they may be picky about a
supplement. But most horses will easily become hooked on beer and it's not
the alcohol that they like. You can let beer sit open to go flat (alcohol
will evaporate) then pour it on grain. Start with a little each feeding and
pretty soon they eat just about anything you pour it on. It may even
overcome their unwillingness to eat the oil. Another thing with oil that
helps is to pour it into bran which will soak it up, before feeding. It
seems some horses just don't like the greasiness of oil on their grain but
will eat the bran mixed in.

<< Any advice on feeding a livestock milk powder to keep weight on! My
endurance partner got this advice from somewhere but the advisor has no
endurance knowledge so he would like to know if it will be good or bad for
his endurance mare. Let me just mention that htis mare HATES oil!!! he even
tried syringing it down her throat and she refused to eat her next two
meals
(after taste?).
