RC: Girth on Sports Saddle

Beth,
I've just gotten a Sport Saddle as well. My problem was mounting. The
first time is OK, but after I ride for a bit, I couldn't mount without the
saddle pullling over.<g> Also, other saddles always sliped back on my boy,
so this one seems, so far to stay in place.
You might call the rep that sold the saddle to you. He/she should be able
to help you with the problem. One of the suggestions from Jeanie
Stewart-Spears (My rep) was to get the Center Fire Quick Cinch from Sport
Tack. This gives the saddle more stability and may solve your problem as
well.
The most funny thing that has happened with this saddle (although watching
me try to get on this tall fellow - bounce, bounce, BOUNCE, is funny
enough), is when he gets into his 'going home at a big trot' mode. My legs
go back and forth with his shoulder movement, so that my butt is also going
from side to side. I laughed so hard, it's a wonder I didn't fall off.
Felt like I was doing the Twist, you know, that 60s thing.

Jan, hoping the rain stops soon.

Hi Guys,
I am hoping some of you might be able to advise me regarding my sports
saddle. My mare has a fairly good set of withers, and a nice hollow behind
them so that most saddles tend to stay in place well. When riding downhill
in my Hartley English saddle I have no problem with the saddle slipping.
However, my Sport Saddle tends to slip forwards, ending up over her
withers. When I position the Sport Saddle on her back, just behind the
scapula, the girth is falling a good 4-6 inches back from her elbow. I
tighten it in that position, but it naturally tends to creep forward till
the girth sits just behind her elbow, and the saddle is perched on the
wither. Any ideas? How would I go about asking a saddle maker to position
the rigging for the girth? Although a crupper would help, I feel that I
should try to address the basic saddle fitting problem.
Thanks for any and all advice,<
