Lif (et al),

A couple of years ago California voters passed a measure banning the sale
of horses for slaughter for human consumption.  The "Killer Buyers" can
no longer transport horses out of California to the Texas slaughterhouses
either.  We are left with only a couple of options for disposal - have
the vet put them down or send them to wildlife waystations.  Sometimes
zoos will take them, but you have to ask around.  Only those people lucky
enough to live outside city limits can shoot their own horses (firearm
discharge inside city limits is against the law you know).
