[Fwd: Re: [Fwd: RC: OPEC victims no more! [long]]]
Thought you might be interested in the response my husband sent me when
I forwarded the OPEC note to him. He's an engineer and can get kind of
cute. Our daughter is in enviromental sciences so there are always lots
of interesting discussions going on. Sometimes very heated (lucky they
love each other).

Maybe. Hydrogen will likely become the fuel of choice as it is very
clean. Problem at the moment 9a la the Hindenberg ...if is aslos
extremely explosive. Until an appropriate and safe fuel cell technology
or other slow release system is developed, it will likely not be in wide
spread use.
The other environmental problems are the surplus oxygen and its temdency
to produce ozone which is damaging to the atmosphere, corrosive and
toxic; and the source of power to produce the water splitting in the
first place - dams, nuclear, diesel power generation etc.
Perhaps cold fusion some day or geothermal sources .... or as this
article suggests - algae or other bio-engineered life forms .... oops -
these are also a "no no" environmentally aren't they.
:-\
Good topic though.
