Re: RC: horses in nursing homes
Pat,
Haven't had time to check that out yet but the heading intrigued me. I work at
a nursing home and my horse has come to visit 3 times. The second time the
coordinator wanted to know if I could bring him into the courtyard -- no outside
entrance. I said "sure; just put something down on the tile floor so he doesn't
fall". We walked through a double automatic door, a few yards down the hallway,
through an enclosed lounge, and out another automatic door to the courtyard. He
was a big hit, naturally. He'll put his head down in a resident's lap if they
are in their wheelchair. The first time I took him there we were outside one
entrance and one resident really wanted to touch him but was hemmed in by other
chairs, so Akela picked his way through the landscaping on one side and reached
out to her. And people say all Arabs are crazy...
Mickie and Akela (and the punch and cookies were good too!)
