Blood tests for calcium are useless because the body has a large resevoir of
calcium that it will mobilize at the expense of bone if serum calcium is too
low. However, the feed can be tested. Serum P tests are probably more
accurate, particularly if urine tests are analyzed at the same time. As to
whether tail chewing is a sign of ca/P imbalance, I am somewhat skeptical.
Is it supposed to be a sign of high or low Ca/P?
