FTC? Must be a typo. The fast Twitch High Oxidative is a cell type between FT
and ST that the horse has a lot of. Both ST and FT will move toward FTH with
conditioning. Basically, it's a stronger aerobic (with oxygen) cell. Also a
transition cell, so there are all sorts of variations in terms of oxidative
capacity and firepower among these cells. It's the most important muscle cell
in flat racers going a mile or more and probably very important in endurance
horses that are actually competiting.
