Mountain Bikes
It might be helpful as a safety measure to ride with a bell on you or your
horse. This would help announce your presence around those corners. It
doesn't have to be a cow bell, just something tinkling along that alerts
others.
I know hikers who tell me they hike with a bell to help the bears and other
potentially dangerous wildlife know where they are.
I also agree with another post telling of the fast silent approach of bikers
from behind. Heck, that scares *me*.
