What a shame! I honestly haven't had a bad experience with a mountain biker
while riding. I've had great luck talking to them (of course they're not
flying at me at the time). I agree with the person who posted about biker
education and explaining to them that if they talk to the horse it helps.
All this being said we are still not a very densely populated part of
California so I'm probably not seeing as much mountain biking as other parts
are. I really do think our future lies (at least as trail users) in learning
how to coexist with mountain bikers. It IS possible, but it will take
education and effort...probably mostly on the horseperson's part. There are
more of them than us (or at least they're more pro-active on trails issues).
It is to our advantage to learn how to live with them (and make them learn
how to live with us).
