It has been proven for years that some

It ain't all the horse. My horse spends as much time in mud as out, and
that did nothing to prepare me for the *one* time I put pads on him and
it rained. He learned pretty quick to trot in the rear, and just slide
in the front, but it was no fun.
And on the topic of East coast mud vs. West coast mud. I remember at the
Pan Am in Arizona. Lots of folks had put on easyboots, but when the
hail/rain storm hit, those riders were SCREAMING at their crews from 100
yards out as they came in the vet check, "Help me get these things off of
here!"
