stopovers on the way to Arizona

We are on our way from Eureka, Ca to Kingman, Az Jan 22, and would appreciate any advice on places to stop with 2 horses.  We have living quarters in the trailer so would like to park/camp nearby.  This is the maiden voyage for this trailer and these horses so do not want to make the days too long.  We are looking at somewhere just south of Sacramento and then past or near Bakersfield.
